The company that in many ways created the present-day template for reality TV with "The Real World" is making its first foray into scripted shows.

Bunim-Murray Productions, the producers of "The Real World," "The Simple Life" and a number of other unscripted staples, has teamed up with "Baywatch" creator Gregory Bonann to develop a drama series set in the Malibu beachside community of Point Dume.

"As we extend the Bunim-Murray brand to encompass scripted drama, I'm pleased to be partnering with Greg, who has a well-deserved reputation for producing one of the true global icons in scripted television," says Jonathan Murray, chairman of Bunim-Murray.

The show, appropriately titled "Point Dume," will focus on teenagers who work in the SEA (Sea Extreme Alliance) Corps, helping out the Coast Guard, lifeguards and rescue personnel on when needed. The SEA Corps is based on a real-life program for high school students.

Tanquil Collins, Vickie Bronaugh and Bonann are credited as the creators of "Point Dume," which Bunim-Murray says will combine the beachside milieu of "Baywatch" and its various offshoots with the production style of "The Real World" and its other unscripted shows.

Bunim-Murray and Tower 18 Productions, Bonann's company, have yet to sell the show.
